Night Photography From EDI and NCL

Another photo blog post, this time on night photography from the last month. This week we have pictures from Edinburgh Christmas market, some mundane but interesting streetscapes and a live performance!

Night photos are a favourite of mine and I only gained the ability to take them since I upgraded my phone two years ago. So enjoy the pictures from various locations!

First up, we have the magical Christmas market in Edinburgh. I was mesmerised by how they'd put together this temporary structure which paid a lot of attention to detail.

I loved the layout, which was designed to take you through some stalls, then through photo opportunities and finally ending at some fairground rides.

I was really impressed by the whole thing and it really got me in the festive mood!

Lights of Newcastle by night

Next up we have some interesting pictures from the city of Newcastle which I call home. Starting with the Tyneside Cinema, our local independent cinema. The positioning of the fairy lights perfectly reflects off the tiled wall to give an interesting look!

Not far from the Tyneside Cinema, we have Northern Goldsmiths, one of the UKs oldest and most iconic jewellery shop. They recently redid their façade which now looks brilliant with the period lights and the neon Rolex sign.

Finally, not quite as glitzy but still quite quite eye-catching is this scene from a hip residential neighbourhood of Newcastle called Sandyford. The photo was timed perfectly to capture some of the brake lights from the Mini which lights up the scene. A quaint canteen is seen in the background, which despite having 'small' in their name does some large portion sizes!

Another concert

A photo series doesn't feel complete to me without pictures from an indie band concert! This time featuring Urvashi, a band whose genre is defined by the cultural melting pot of the band members.

The band consists of Anna Chai, on goosebump-giving saxophone and flute. Rishi Pelham, on some of the most intense jazz drumming that rivals Miles Teller's performance in Whiplash! Joe Armer on a bright and jazzy guitar. Last but not least, Theo Malka-Wishart on virtoustic bass.

They performed two sets on the night which were filled with many moments that gave me full body goosebumps. The passion of their performance is best described by a few moments when the drum set couldn't handle the passion of Rishi's drumming.

Just before the first set ended, the intensity of Rishi's drumming caused one of the drums to end up on the floor. It happened again in the second set during his solo, which was reassembled with the help of Theo and Anna.

Hope you enjoyed looking through and reading the descriptions of the pictures from this weeks post! Feel free to reply via email to let me know your thoughts!

Until next time,

Tony
