Visiting The Most Picturesque Cities in the UK

I recently visited London and Edinburgh, two of the most photogenic cities in the UK. So I put my recently acquired second-hand Lumix and my photography skills to test.

Recently, I've been mesmerised by photographing everything I see. From roadside signs to mudane streets. So when I travelled to London and to Edinburgh all within the span of a week, you can be guaranteed a photoblog!

Monumental buildings at Canary Wharf

When I took this shot from Canary Wharf, I was instantly transported to New York where I spent my last Summer as a Teenager. The concrete jungle is such a beautiful description that encapsulates the way I felt exactly. I can't think of anywhere else in the UK that makes you feel similarly.

Be patient with others

Despite the hustle and bustle of the London Underground, there was a prevailing calm at Kings Cross. Most people seem to be in a hurry, rushing into a metro like their life depended on it. Yet the whole place had a church-like tranquility.

Playing for the sake of playing

I really quite like this one despite the 'not so perfect' composition. Initially, I had corrected it by taking out the gentleman on the left to make it look more clean and professional. I then re-edited the picture to remove the original correction to include him in the picture.

I like how the people on the right are playing the game with the scoreboard turned on, whereas the people on the left have left it turned off. They are simply playing for the sole purpose of playing the game. No indication of who's doing better or 'winning', just playing

Prince's Street at dusk

Switching gears from the hustle and bustle of London to the tranquil streetscapes of Edinburgh.

Despite the time fast approaching 10pm, the street feels quite bright and inviting. This is most certainly my favourite part of Summer. The only giveaway is probably the low density of people, making it feel like a ghost town, despite being in the centre of Edinburgh.

The Balmoral Clock at dusk

A good visual reminder of the time, especially how late in the evening it is! Have I mentioned how much I like the sun setting late at night?

Cockburn Street at dusk

Yet another picturesque streetscape of Edinburgh. The aesthetic of the stone clad walls of buildings gives you a glimpse of what life could have looked like in medieval times.

Yet another post about cities, I assure you this isn't turning into a city blog! There are a few drafts in the pipeline about climbing and some philosophical experiments, so look out for those.
